Fear*

I know how yous kids likes em extra sloppy. Going up coyote was soggy and squishy. Then I got fresh tracks on the snowy trail. Perfect weather.

After an unanticipated stop 3 miles in, it got a bit darker than i thought. I started thinking about how many coyote footprints I had followed in to where I was. I started to hear stuff. Then, it happened for the the first time since 1995 when I solo hiked Provo Peak and a mountain chicken scared the crap out of me: the primal scream. Twice. There was something there, ok? I don't think I can reproduce that sound without activation of the basic survival instinct. At the end of the run there was another something in the bushes. I clapped my hands real loud and hollered. It ran away. Just over 6 miles. One hour (+). Solo.

Then I came home to the most delicious meal that I have ever eaten. My wife is an incredible cook. Wow. I am so lucky. Ring out the church bells. Strike up the band!
