Zion Man

The first and only annual Zion Man Triathlon took place today and was a big hit. We had about 20 adults and 10 kids participate including teams.
The event was thus:
rope swing start into the pond, 100+yd swim.
eat a ho-ho
Mountain bike around the pond (0.4 mi.)
eat a twinkie
run 0.25 miles up the hill to the playground
Go down the yellow slide
0.1 mi. to finish.

It was a blast to design and I had a ton of help from pops and cousins and whatnot.
It was way cool to have so many be willing to "tri" it out. Dork.
Plus I got to do it. Fun

I woke up with intentions to run, but I felt like I had been run over by a train.
(up til 1 playing games after yesterdays activities)

Tryin' in Zion

Got up early, but not early enough. 305 was dead. Only had time for a 45 minute jog. I'm guessing I put in 5 miles. Yeah, lets go with that!

Then we went on a really cool small hike. It was about 3 miles total with the little ones plus some additional adventures without the kiddos. Thanks wife! I'm going to count this as one hour because there was some stemming and climbing and side trips and it was neat. Plus I was with my bros and thats nice.

Then a good ole game of frizzle fry. Remember ultimate frisbee? Well we played for over an hour and I'm going to count it, but not mileage. I ran the entire time and there was a lot of sprinting and it was hot, but I had a blast. Call it speed work.

H 2 Oh My!

Rock Springs. If there's a pipe, its safe, right? Right?

Slight miscalculations again.
5 1/2 hrs came just after my water ran out, not at the end like I'd hoped. 7 hours was the end. 27.34 hot, steep, dry miles. 9900 ft. el. ups & downs!!
100 oz of water, 30 oz of gatorade. (why not 100 of gatorade? Cause I ain't smart)
3 pb&h's (more h next time!) Gu chomps, 2 fruit bars, and chips.
Of course I couldn't eat much of anything after about 5 hours. Did I mention the heat?

DV Practice loops

Its finally SO nice up here. I spent 90 minutes cruising on the trails, taking it easy still. My feet got beat up, though. I don't know about the vibrams! Ouch. 7.6 miles. Finished right when my sexy wife got here. 3000 ft el.

OFC

Swim to clear the noggin. I spent an hour in 50 m pool. Crawl, backstroke, breast stroke, took it easy. Made it 2600 m.

Canyon Spin

28.5 miles in 80 minutes.
Kept it light. Flush the lactic acid.
Had to review for the final. (B+)

Ragnar

I successfully did no running or anything of the sort for a full week. So when I started my first leg of the ultra ragnar, I was feeling great.
7.4 miles in vibrams and a nurse dress. 55 min.
Then I couldn't find my 305, but I did
10.8 miles in 83 minutes at 1 am. In the same dress.
Then my last one I broke down. 10.3 miles in a little under 90 minutes with plenty of sexual harassment to keep me going strong in my dress.
Good times, though. Should I not have enjoyed running in the dress?

June? Really?

What a turn in the weather. 40's and foggy, rainy, even snowed last night! No motivation whatsoever to go out and trot for an hour in that! So Rest week started early. Good. I need it.

Expotition.

25 miles. 5 hours 52 minutes. 7000 ft of elevation.
A hail/lightning storm. 3 PB&H, 1 Snix, 8 Gu Chews. 100 oz H20, 80 oz Gatorade (only drank 40.) Heavy pack! Chips before. Choco milk After.
I know I went 25 miles in 30 minutes less last time. But I had to wait out the storm and drop 2 dukes.
Sound didn't work, bummer.

Trails?

They both started out really nice, but ended up disappearing in the dead-fall and whatnot. I got back in the 5fingers, but my baby toe still hurts a bit. Forgot my garmin. How could I? I was out about and hour and the Google Earths looked like it was about 3.5 miles. STEEP!!

Pence Point

Headed out with the Jefe for a section of "the trail". East Canyon to Lamb's. Started out slow and lovely. Stops for various things. Looked for the spring for a while. Found it further up the trail. Then ended up running the wrong down-canyon and came out on Mtn. Dell, dodging golf balls on the fairway. Then we bush whacked our way up the water shed rive back to Lambs. Late start, went long, unhappy wife. Family pictures cheered her right up though.
12.75 miles. 2 hours 53 minutes.
2800 up, 4150 down

The snow is melting!

Spent two hours trotting around the dv hills again. Beautiful day. Little bit of mud, but the snow is receding rapidly, hooray!
Got in 11.6 miles with a whole bunch of elevation change. Hit a 5:14 mile coming down Homestake. Yikes. Kept the average HR at 149. Long and slow baby.
Oh and the plantar fascia is feeling ok. Just keep stretching and yoga-ing.
Pinky toe is feeling a bit better too. Anxious to get back out in my 5 fingers.
3000 ft el.

Long and Lonely Road

I love the Timpanogos
5 hours 16 min 25 miles
5620 up, 5300 down
Did the last 7 of "The Trail", then suffered through town on pavement.
2 PB and H's, 4 granola bars, 2 nectarines, a GU that my body rejected.
Ran out of water at about 4 hours. Bought a gatorade at the gas station. Bad eating. Got behind and felt too crappy to catch up. Lots of hiking.
Need to stick with White Bread (Granny Sic.) and smooth PB and More Honey on the expotitions.
Its going to be a long summer indeed.

Timp

I love this mountain.
Had to clear my head of microbiological worries and lack.
That doesn't even make sense. Oh well.
Spent an hour up there. 1700 el.
5.7 mi.

Haven;t been wearing my 5 fingers because of my baby toe. Frustrating.
I tried today, but it hurts a bit.
