monologgin

yeah, I had a good little monologue with the chief in my head during my nightly mile. A little more as Fezzik wandered all over the place. It wasn't my best monologue, but it was decent. Why? really. Just leave your policies the way they are and let people progress. It doesn't harm anyone, does it?

BM*

Not the bare minimum today- sorry Salt Lakers, I know its watershed up there. And I'm sorry you have to breath that air!! I played a few plays in frizzz, and got a 3 miler in on the way home in the afternoon. Top of emmigration. Followed that ridgeline trail for a mile and a half then turned around and came back. I'll leave out the details...

Pretty though. Moose tracks in the snow. Cold air. Great views.

Canine Obesity

He just likes to smell stuff. Usually it's urine placed earlier by another dog. It was sunny and chilly and nice, so we went out for a couple miles. I ran one in about 9 minutes and then waited for the big lug to catch up. Fine.

moving day

helping close relatives move is so much fun.
Fez and I did the usual at 10pm. Nice night. Pretty slow.

Six twenty two

I know it's not that impressive, but I jumped on the tready and hit start. I beat yesterday by a whopping 2 seconds. I know I can do a faster one, but it was 9:30 and I wanted to be able to sleep. No warm up? No problem. Roy is still far away. But I like it a lot.

a treadmill story

"Hey, we're about to eat," said Sean.
"Is it less than 10 minutes out?" I asked.
"No, probably like 15," he replied.
"Cool, I'll be right back."
I put on my 5 fingers and a pair of shorts and started at 8.5 mph. Each time I went 0.2 mile I upped the speed by a half mph. Ended up with a 6:24. Not horrible, no warm up. Then I ate a big juicy Tbone grilled to perfection by Bovi. Yum.

What an exciting little anecdote!

BM

That's Bare Minimum, not what you were thinking. Fez is lovin' this, he told me.
A mile, pretty brisk winter valley night.

I wonder how I'll fare in the Grand Canyon on 7 mile weeks...

Ski mob

I knew I should have ran this morning before I went skiing. but I could not get out of bed. so at 10:50 pm, my big fat dog and I went out for a quick jog again. Bare minimum. Sore legs!

Poor Mike got quite the birthday present from a cute little 20 year old. Right in the middle of a run. Unconscious for 15 seconds- no big deal eh mate? Scary.

And maybe next time we'll get someone under 60 to take our photo.

Perfect Timing

Walked to the corner right as the handsome 2/3 of the breakfast club came cruising by at 6:05 as planned. I joined them for 4.5 miles. I think it was 38 minutes or so moving time. I love the breakfast club.

I have had so many emails and phone calls requesting my presence on a run just so that people can make this highly followed personal fitness blog. But I have to say no. Thank you frog man and BHM. (What a big strong light you have!)

P.S. School is expensive. Sometimes when I get board I buy stuff on Amazon. That's why it's expensive.

P.P.S. Snow frisbee is a good good time.

Ripple

If any good at all has come from my silly game of running every day for 23 days straight, it's quality time. That one miler with my kiddo the other night was fun. One on one time with any of em is rare these days, I think she liked it. And I have become quite the dog owner again. Paying Alex 2 bucks for each walk is something, but there's no substitute for a jog with alpha. At least that's what I imagine Fez thinking. If dogs think. They do, right? Yeah. I'm sure they do.

One mile, 8:50 on snow packed road. beautiful night

Snow!

It finally snowed a significant amount. I hopped on the treadmill barefoot and got my obligatory mile then did some situps/pushups and stared at myself in the mirror. Lazy

When in Roy

Left roy and went to the wasatch 100 start line. Ran the first bit right at dusk. Only went a little over 2.5 miles in a little under a half hour. Sloppy, muddy, icy, slushy- perfect. Then I drove to pc for a "fondue party". Good day.

Subject Line

Really, no subject, I headed out with the doggo for another quick mile just to fill the bare minimum. Of course I should count Ultimate at recess. Left hip flexor issues - lateral, maybe trochanter, but I don't think so, feels deep up in the joint. We'll see how it shakes out. Hoping for actual snow still at some point this winter...

Forgetful Jones

I knew when I set down my gloves, car keys, phone and headphones that I might leave them in the break room at hseb. Of course it wasn't until I was a mile away that I remembered them. Luckily some people are honest and just left the stuff alone for 20 minutes. So I ran back and got them and then ran back to be late to class. Oops. So tack another mile onto my 4 mile trail run during lunch break. Ok? Ok. Pretty day. snow is here now, I hope it ends up dropping a lot.

Starry Starry Night

After most of the craziness had settled (and the sun, too). My favorite 8 year old and I went out for a one mile run. 12 minutes, no stopping. Way to go kiddo! And the stars were big and bright (clap clap clap clap.)
My favorite 5 year old was tumbling.
Then my favorite 3 year old and I went to get the mail and saw an AMAZING shooting star. So perty.

I didn't have to miss...

Hung out with my dog for a quick walk. 8:10 mile in the cold. Then some good bowling.

Procedure

I let the day get away. It was kinda full, though. Hopped on the dreaded treadmill at 10:00 finally and sauntered a 9:17 barefoot. It had to be done. Snow is coming (among other metaphorical storms) so we'll see how this shakes out...

Trippy

If you're in uniform, it's probably a good idea to not trip right next to a car so they slow down to see if you're ok. Funny though.

4 miles 32:40. Trotting on the beautiful prairie. Incredibly nice weather. Warm before the storm I presume.

Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?

It's not his fault being the biggest dog in the neighborhood, he doesn't even exercise...

until now. He actually did great for ALMOST a mile. 8:50. Then I let him stroll or meander, or mosey - whatever he does and we took another 10 minutes to walk the half mile back. Good Boy!! (fatty)

Punch line?

A chiropractor and a paramedic were running on a trail by the light of the moon...
I don't think that any jokes start that way, but that's how my day started. 5.5 mile 6am moonlight trot with my homey. I think it was a bit over an hour. No hurries. Cold faces. Lots of whippers and trippers. We had to use the force in the moon shadows. Even got some cross country in at the end. What a great way to start a day.

And then some 3 on 4 frizzers at lunch time. So fun.

This is the place

Just a quick 9 minute mile up a cool little trail on the way home from a day full of administrators.

Florescent orange shorts and a dress shirt/sweater vest on top. I'm sexy and I know it.

Friz

So we played ultimate on the snowy field. Good stuff. But I didn't count that as my mile. I ran over to the swimming pool and did about a 7:30 mile at 7 to pick up our sweet kid. Then we drove home.

Dedication v Foolishness

I tried at 3 to go out and trot in the warm winter sun on the prairie. Twas not nature's call that stopped me. It was the hospital's call. When the dust of transports, fighting for my job, and paperwork settled it was 11:35pm. Sure, I coulda dressed up warm and headed out with the coyotes, but instead I went barefoot on the treadmill for one 8 minute mile. Bare minimum lately. Oh well, that's the goal and you gotsta do what you gotsta do.

Duty

Not doodie.
27 degrees. Sunny, no wind. I probably shoulda spent more time out there on the prairie. But I just did one 7:45 mile just to do my duty to myself.

Breakfast Club

Another beautiful morning with one of my favorite running trios. Bare Hands Mike, El Frogger, and myself. 6:30 am. low 30's. light snow with an inch of new. We hit everybody's favorite new trail and then came back on the highway - Mike's ankle was tweeking. 11 miles. I think Steve-o said it was an hour 53. Felt so good! Then rounded up the ski gear and the girls and spent the day at Canyons with Dan and his girls. Beauty. What a great day. I am beat. Why do I do this to my back? Oh, cause I love it.

Friday, January 6, 2012

Is everything ok?

Asked the other biker.
"Yeah, we've just been married ten years." Was my reply.
Probably didn't earn any points with that one, but I was already in the doghouse.
So, we ended up riding about 5 miles of pavement and half mile of trail. Then I went and ran around the streets for 13 minutes (give or take). I'm sure I at least went a mile and a half.

Afternoon Delight

Steve was here at 3 o'clock and we ran the "4 mile loop" (pavement) counter clockwise. Lovely. We hit 4 at 31:40 - I believe he said. Then I traipsed across the field another quarter mile or so, but who's counting?
This pic was taken on Dec 31 - my first (solo) trek on the newest trail in the valley.
Love it! (ala Wheezy from Dragon Tails)

More Runs

Still not feeling great, but headed out for a bit anyway. Just barely made it back after a mere 1.6 miles in 13 minutes. Amazing January weather.

Monday, January 2, 2012

Runs

So, I went out on the good old rail trail at about 4 and did one whole mile in 6:54.
Unfortunately, I was not feeling good and before I finished my one whole mile, I found out why that was... Nasty. But at least I got'er done. Then I showered and slept for 3 hours.

New Year!

Wait, what happened to 2011? Who knows...
Anywho. I think a fun goal this year will be to "run" at least one mile every day. So, today with Wife at work, my bernese and I trotted a 12.5 minute mile. Yup, just one. I in my boots and he peeing and smelling stuff. What a perfect start to a silly new goal. Stay tuned, 364 more posts to go...
